What was a company annual return?
It used to be a requirement that all UK registered companies would need to file an annual return on the anniversary of their incorporation. The information contained within this report included the company’s directors, shareholders and their registered office address. The report helped Companies House maintain an up to date record of all incorporate companies but was replaced in July 2016 by the confirmation statement.
Confirmation statements were designed to be less burdensome on businesses as if there were no changes to report it was acceptable to submit a comment of that effect. While the shift from annual reports to confirmation statements was for business owners, they made it more difficult and time-consuming to conduct due diligence on potential suppliers or partners which is why we designed our annual return replacement package.
