How do you know if a company has gone into administration?

Winding-up and administration searches
We perform a real-time search of the Central Registry of Winding-up Petitions as well the Bacchus terminals within the courts themselves to reveal any pending petitions. Winding-up petitions are brought to the court by a company’s creditor and are available on the register the same-day they are issued.
Insolvency searches at The Gazette
Whenever a company goes into administration, liquidation or receivership, they or the party dealing with the insolvency, are required to post an announcement on The Gazette. This makes The Gazette the UK’s foremost record of statutory and non-statutory notices. Notices on The Gazette usually take up to 7 days after an event has occurred which is why a winding-up search is essential when checking a company’s status.
Insolvency searches at Companies House
We conduct a search for any bankruptcy or administration related filings on Companies House and gather what we’ve found into a single report. Like The Gazette, there is usually a lag between when an insolvency event occurs and the information is posted on Companies House. The benefit of searching Companies House is that it covers insolvencies that are not a result of a winding-up petition, receiverships and Company Voluntary Arrangements.
